Welcome to the Bar-Ilan Interdisciplinary Conference on Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Networks!

The Data Science Institute at Bar-Ilan University (BIU DSI) is a university-wide research institute that brings together a group of leading researchers from the core fields of data science as well as researchers from different disciplines dealing with applications of data science. The Institute was established in 2017 in order to advance the field of data science at the University in all areas of research and academic education.

Bar-Ilan University's commercial arm is BIRAD Research & Development Ltd., founded in 1974. The company develops, markets and commercializes products based on research findings and academic knowledge accumulated by university researchers, and directs these findings to practical applications with business potential, Inventions, computer programs, databases, teaching aids, other means, industrial programs, trademarks or official symbols, varieties of new plants, etc.

The company accompanies the process, from invention and patent protection to licensing of industrial organizations. BIRAD initiates, leads and manages the process of transferring discoveries and technologies from the University's laboratories for industrial development and production of products with global impact.

BIRAD deals with the registration of patents, through which the industry and the business sector are granted proprietary rights over the knowledge that has been created.

BIRAD contracts with commercial entities and with government or private financing bodies and sets rules for financing the activity. In addition, the agreements stipulate the division of rights and revenues between the research institution and the researcher.

BIRAD assists in the transfer of breakthrough technologies for Bar-Ilan University researchers to commercial use.

More than 30 start-ups have started their way in Birad since its establishment.

In the initial phase, BIRAD provides start-up companies with support for the launch of the new venture: management assistance, provision of situation assessments and risk management, as well as financial investments.

The company works in cooperation with the Nanotechnology Center and the Faculty of Medicine in the Galilee, and has cooperation agreements with international companies such as Samsung, EMC, GM, BASF and others.
