SMITH SURGICAL SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

We are delighted to announce that through generous philanthropic donations, the Cleveland Clinic Florida Department of Colorectal Surgery will again offer Smith Surgical Scholarships.

These scholarships, initiated by Steven Smith and Ellan Caites Smith, and supported by numerous other altruistic friends, are designed to allow residents and fellows throughout the world as well as practicing surgeons in low income and lower middle income countries to attend our annual international colorectal disease summit at the David Citadel Hotel in Jerusalem, Israel from June 24-27, 2025. A maximum of $5,000 will be made available as reimbursement for registration fee, travel, accommodations, ground transfer and meals.

Applicants must submit:

  1. A Curriculum Vitae (PDF)
  2. A Letter of Recommendation from residency or fellowship program director for trainees (PDF)
  3. A Letter of recommendation from department chair if a practicing surgeon in a developing country (PDF)
  4. A Statement summery to exceed one page explaining the reason for wanting to be awarded a Smith Surgical Scholarship, as well we practice description of how participating in the program will improve your practice and the care of your patients (PDF)

Applications are due by January 31, 2025. Decision will be rendered by February 28, 2025.

Announcements of receiving the scholarship, and the payment process for the scholars will be made by Cleveland Clinic Institute.

Scholarships will be preferentially awarded to applicants who have a submitted E-poster accepted for presentation.
